While based in Ii, northern Finland, I provide the following consulting services. Some of the services are available in Finland only, but others are applicable worldwide.

Research entails studies of biodiversity and environmental change that can be ordered by the client. One example are literature surveys focusing on how biotic communities or natural ecosystems have changed in a specific area over time. Based on such information, plans how to protect, restore or manage ecosystems in the target area could be tailored. A second example, restricted to Finland only, involves surveys of rivers and lakes, as well as larger catchments. Surveys include field visits, based on which a written report with photos and thematic maps will be handed to the client as the final product. This information can be used in catchment-level planning of natural resources management. A third example involves commenting on research plans prior to launching projects or expert commenting on scientific manuscripts.

Analysis includes either commenting on data analysis that can used in research studies or more direct participation in research on biodiversity, environmental change or ecosystem management. Special focal ecosystems are rivers and lakes, but the analytical aid is by no means restricted to freshwater ecosystems because the same analytical methods can be applied in any ecosystem worldwide.

Auditing incorporates expert evaluations of research projects, organizations or applicants of positions. Auditing also applies to governments and cities interested in external opinions of projects on catchment planning and similar topics.

Miscellaneous Consulting embraces either face-to-face meetings (restricted to Finland only) or online video meetings (available worldwide) of expert opinions on ecological and environmental issues.
